Which manicure is right for you?
A Russian manicure focuses on detailed preparation around the nail and cuticle. A gel manicure adds gel polish for colour and shine; this is called vernis semi-permanent on French salon menus. Gel polish can be paired with an express manicure or more thorough Russian preparation. For a natural manicure without colour, choose polish-free care or our Japanese nail treatment.
Our nail artists use controlled movements and the gentlest preparation they can to minimise the impact on your natural nail plate. Our aim is beautiful nails today and healthy nails over the long term.
The difference with a Russian manicure is in the finish: neater contours and a more polished result than classic preparation. With a suitable nail application, we aim to keep your hands beautifully groomed for at least three weeks, without a salon touch-up. Wear depends on your nails, your daily routine and following aftercare advice.

Is a Russian manicure the same as gel polish?
A Russian manicure describes the nail and cuticle preparation. Gel polish is a colour coating. At Surya you can book a Russian manicure with or without gel polish.
Should I choose a builder gel overlay instead?
A builder gel overlay adds a layer of structure over your natural nails. If your nails are in good condition and you mainly want colour, gel polish may be enough. Call us before booking if you are unsure.
Is gel polish removal included?
Gel polish removal is free with a new application at Surya, including polish applied elsewhere. Please still add removal to your booking. Other materials have separate removal prices.
What is semi-permanent nail polish on a French menu?
Vernis semi-permanent is gel polish: a colour coating cured under a lamp. It can accompany an express or Russian manicure. A French manicure describes the contrasting tip design, so mention French tips or nail art when booking to check the options and appointment time.
How long will the finish stay well groomed?
With a Russian manicure and a suitable nail application, we aim for a well-groomed finish for at least three weeks, without a salon touch-up. Wear varies with your nails, lifestyle and following aftercare advice.
